The association noted that various crimes including banditry, armed robbery and kidnapping that have been raising apprehension in Yoruba communities needed to be fought to a standstill through the collective effort of all stakeholders in the geo-political zone. Rising from a meeting held at the residence of its factional leader, Senator Ayo Fasanmi, in Osogbo, Osun State, Afenifere noted the situation calls for effective collaboration to contain the ugly trend. The meeting resolved that leaders of the group would pay a courtesy visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice president Yemi Osinbajo and governors in the Southwest to discuss the issue of security withthem. The association thanked President Buhari for honouring the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, the late Chief Moshood Abiola, by naming a national monument after him. They also appreciated national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for repositioning Southwest from what it was from 2011 to 2015.
